Abstract:
As our understanding of complex interconnectedness of brains is slowly growing, it becomes increasingly important to measure neuronal activity non-invasively across entire brains and complement whole-brain neuroimaging with techniques that allow for systematic manipulation of brain activity. This Munich Symposion will host speakers working on new methods for molecular neuroimaging of brain activity via Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Photoacoustics or fast Fluorescence Imaging and combining those with molecular control technology such as opto- or pharmacogenetics. We will discuss how this methodology will help us to go beyond correlative brain mapping towards causal models of brain circuits.
