Julia Fischer has made seminal contributions to understand primate communication and cognition and how that relates to their social systems. She heads the Cognitive Ethology Lab at the German Primate Center in Göttingen and has established in recent years an African field station that provides highly interesting insights into the diverse social systems of baboons and how that links with cognition.
