Abstract:
My lab studies the molecules that are responsible for cell-cell recognition during neural circuit formation in the retina. We are interested in this question because molecules such as these are critical for visual function, and they may have broader roles in development of circuits throughout the brain. Here I will discuss molecular mechanisms that enable precise and selective interactions between particular cell types during circuit assembly, focusing on the direction-selective circuit of mouse retina as our major model system.
