Title: Circadian Regulation of Transcription in Clockless Cells

Location:
Seminarroom 2.floor

Host: Prof. Maria Robles

Abstract:
Sebastian research focuses on the role of RNA metabolism in the brain, using Drosophila and mammalian cell systems as models. During his PhD training, Sebastian investigated molecular aspects of gene expression regulation, particularly the interplay between transcription and pre-mRNA splicing. In his postdoctoral work with Prof. Michael Rosbash (2017 Nobel Laureated), Sebastian developed a novel system to specifically inactivate adult neurons in flies using neurotoxins allowing him to identify basic mechanisms of co- and post-transcriptional control of circadian rhythms.
