Abstract:
We are excited to announce the next speaker in our Keynote seminar series on the theme of Co-Operation, Professor Jürgen Heinze. He is a globally recognized expert on social behavior, aging, and reproduction in social insects. His comprehensive scientific work has greatly expanded our understanding of the behavior and evolution of social insects. He studied biology in Darmstadt and received his doctorate in 1988. He was a postdoctoral fellow with Edward O. Wilson at Harvard University, then a research assistant and Heisenberg Fellow with Bert Hölldobler at the University of Würzburg. In 1996, he became a professor of zoology at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, and in 2000 he took over the chair of zoology at the University of Regensburg. Jürgen Heinze is a member of the Leopoldina and the Bavarian Academy of Sciences. He was also a member of the DFG Senate, a member of the German Science Council, and is a member of the expert committee for the German Excellence Strategy.
