Simon E. Fisher is Director at the MPI for Psycholinguistics in Nijmegen and investigates how genetic variation affects different facets of our communicative abilities. He studies this in the context of language-related disorders, variability in the general population and the evolutionary history of speech and language. His research aims to bridge the gaps between genes, brains, speech, and language by integrating molecular genetics with cell biology, human neuroimaging, and experimental psychology.
