Abstract:
Lecture series "Intellectual Property and Patent Law 1"
This lecture wants to provide an overview on intellectual property and patent law, with the specific focus on life sciences. We will present the legal framework (with an emphasis on European patent law), as well as the practical way from invention to patent to litigation, and also give insight into job opportunities in the field of intellectual property rights. Specifically, the lecture teaches you to judge as to when an invention could be patentable. You will learn what you should and shouldn’t do when you have made an invention. You will write claims for a patent application on the basis of a real scenario. In addition, you will learn how to obtain and how to kill a patent, as well as how to enforce a patent if someone uses the patented invention without the consent of the patent owner. Once again this year, we were able to attract well-known industry experts as guest speakers to get their inside view into the industry’s need for intellectual property protection. If possible and if requested, we would like to arrange an excursion to the European Patent Office. Registration Link: |
