Abstract:
While we know that attention interacts with action, its specific role in different movements, such as eye, hand and head movements is not well understood. In this talk, I will investigate: 1) what the relationship between pre-saccadic attention and eye movements is, 2) how exogenous attention interacts with eye and head movements and 3) how attentional resources are allocated during eye-hand coordination. I show that attention can influence movement planning and in turn, movements influence where attention is allocated. In addition, I show some evidence that pre-saccadic attention and eye movement planning can be dissociable under certain conditions.
